Cookie Policy

Last updated: 1 October 2026

Like most websites, levelmerchant.uk stores a few small pieces of information in your browser so that the shop works as you would expect. We keep this to a minimum. This page explains what we store, why, and how you stay in control of anything that is not strictly needed.

01What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file that a website places in your browser. It lets the site recognise your browser from one page to the next, which is how a shop remembers what is in your basket while you carry on looking around.

We also use your browser's local storage, which works in a similar way but never travels to our server on its own. Both are covered by this policy, and both follow the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations together with the UK GDPR.

02Essential cookies and storage

Some storage is strictly necessary for the shop to work, so it does not need your consent. Without it the basket would empty itself every time you clicked a link and the cookie banner would keep reappearing.

  • Basket session: a cookie that links your browser to the basket you are building, so items stay put until you check out.
  • Cookie choice: remembers whether you accepted or declined optional cookies, so we do not ask again on every page.
  • Favourites: the games you mark as favourites are kept in your browser's local storage on your own device; we cannot see them.

03Optional analytics

With your permission we may use analytics to understand, in general terms, which pages are popular and where visitors get stuck. It helps us decide which games to stock and which pages need clearer wording. We look at the numbers as a whole, not at what any one person does.

Analytics cookies are only set if you choose "Accept" in the cookie banner. If you decline, or simply ignore the banner, none are set and the shop works exactly the same.

04How long things are stored

The basket session cookie lasts only as long as it needs to: it expires a short while after you finish browsing or complete checkout, so an old basket does not follow you around for weeks. The cookie that records your banner choice is kept for up to 12 months, after which we ask again in case your preferences have changed.

Favourites in local storage have no expiry date of their own. They stay on your device until you remove them from your list or clear your browser's site data, and because they never leave your device they are not shared with us or anyone else.

05No advertising cookies

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, we do not build profiles for advertisers, and we do not allow other companies to follow you around the internet from our pages. A family games shop has no need for that, and we would rather you came back because you enjoyed shopping with us.

06Changing your mind

When you first visit we show a banner where you can accept or decline optional cookies. To change your choice later, clear the cookies and site data for levelmerchant.uk in your browser settings and the banner will appear again on your next visit.

You can also block cookies altogether through your browser. Please be aware that blocking essential cookies will stop the basket and checkout from working, and clearing local storage will remove the favourites you have saved.
